Emancipation of Eve?

A 17-year-old girl is mercilessly flogged in Pakistan's Swat valley by barbarians we know as the Taliban. That story is the headline/ front page story in almost all major newspapers and news websites across the world. Yet, will it make a difference?

And thanks to certain women-hating-pro-Hindu political parties, will we be seeing the same in India soon?

Its not just the flogging thats out there J, there was a news report on CNN, where the Afghanistan govt, passed a bill stating that Marital Rape was allowed under terms and laws of the state. WTF!!!!!!! and yeah, it cud happen in india too, thanks to the radicalist/religious frenzied morons who might get to power, and the barrage of criminals contesting the elections. :x

I am feeling nauseous after seeing that video. What the hell is the world coming to. I sometimes wonder if it was right for me to have a baby, and bring him into this disastrous world.

I doubt whether that any political party will flog girls and stone them to death in India. Or behead them. We really have not reached there yet.
Which pro-Hindu 'political' party is woman hating? Crimes against women are conducted by all political parties, irrespective of their ideology.

@ Kartikey: I dont think any religion or its followers hate women. However, women are often used as examples or some sort of ballpark of where that religion is going. Taliban uses women to show control; SRS used women (more media gimmikry now its said), and every other religious faction that has abused women has done more to CONTROL women than because its hates them...

@ Goofy Mumma: I get scared when I think I might have a daughter. I'd love a little girl, but it worries me sick to think of the many levels of predators around.

@ Bulletproof: Agree there. WE seem to live in a bubble where we think that it cannot happen in India. It's a utopian belief I think. Anyway, let's see how things play out.

@ DewDrop Dream: Scary, no?

@ Eves Lungs: Conflicting stories about it all. One says she refused to marry a Taliban 'soldier'; another said she was spotted with a married man etc. Shrug. sigh.

Outrageous!

And what makes us think that similar atrocities has not yet happened in India??? I remember reading headlines like 'dalit woman stripped and beaten' ... are they any better than this?
